一、研讨班内容简介

 About Robust and Reliable Research Practices

近年来在组织科学和其他多个社会科学领域,都出现了研究结果可重复性的危机。本次研讨班将给大家详细介绍这个危机的来源和克服方法。我们通过实例来讲解如何增强研究结论的稳定性和可信性,包括使用事后统计效力分析,元分析,和重复性统计检验等方法。我们希望通过此次研讨班,推动管理学和组织科学研究者进行更加严谨与可信的理论推导、研究设计、统计检验和结果报告。

There have been multiple calls in the Organization Sciences for scholars to conduct reproducible, robust, and reliable research, in the wake of a so-called "reproducibility crisis". This workshop introduces to organization researchers in China a thorough understanding of problems associated with HARKing and p-hacking. We will use concrete examples from the management and organizational research literatures to illustrate how to combat with these problems, using approaches including post hoc power analysis, meta-analysis, and statistical reproduction methods. Our goal is to encourage more rigorous and useful research, in terms of theorizing, study design, testing, and reporting.

About the Workshop and Who Should Attend 

中山大学管理学院一向致力于向华人管理学者介绍最前沿的研究方法。本次讲座作为中山大学管理学院方法论系列讲座第八期,是首次全国范围内的关于增进组织科学研究的稳定性和可信性的中文讲座。本次讲座致力于向华人学者介绍如何更好的进行研究设计与统计检验,以使研究结果更加稳定可靠。讲授者将结合自己的实践经验,通过实例进行演示和说明,从而协助学员更稳健地进行组织管理相关研究。

This Workshop is the 8th annual workshop sponsored by SYSBS, featuring applications-oriented workshops focusing on the latest trends in organizational research methods. Led by two experts in the field, as the first national Workshop on Promoting Robust and Reliable Research in Organization Sciences in Chinese, it aims to tutor Chinese scholars about a deep understanding of the methods used for conducting robust and reliable research in management and other disciplines in the Organization Sciences. In addition, the instructors will demonstrate how to apply these methods in their research projects.

温馨提示:学员应提前熟知与显著性统计检验相关的传统统计方法(包括t-tests, ANOVA, 线性回归, 结构方程模型等)。另外,希望学员对bootstrapping methods和元分析(meta-analysis)也能有一些基础知识。

Reminder: Participants should be familiar with statistical methods based on Null Hypothesis Significance Testing (NHST), including t-tests, ANOVA, linear regressions, and structural modeling. Working knowledge about bootstrapping methods and meta-analysis will be helpful.

Instructor Biographies

汪默,现任佛罗里达大学Warrington商学院Lanzillotti-McKethan杰出学者讲席教授,人力资源研究中心主任。他的研究方向包括退休管理及中老年职工就业,外派人员及新员工入职与调适,职业健康心理学,领导力和团队过程,以及高级计量方法学。他的研究获得过管理学会(Academy of Management),工业与组织心理学会(Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology),以及多个学术刊物的学术成就奖。他还获得了多个学术组织和学会的中期/早期职业成就/贡献奖,包括管理学会组织行为分会(OB Division, 2017),美国心理学会(American Psychological Association,2013),行为与脑科学联合会(Federation of Association in Behavioral and Brain Sciences,2013),工业与组织心理学会(2012),管理学会人力资源分会(HR Division, 2011)、方法学分会(Research Methods Division, 2011),和职业健康心理学会(Society for Occupational Health Psychology,2009)。他担任过《牛津退休全书》的主编,目前是学术期刊Work, Aging and Retirement的主编,Journal of Applied Psychology的副主编,及多个其他学术期刊的编委会成员。他也是美国心理学会,心理科学联合会,和工业与组织心理学会的院士。汪默曾担任职业健康心理学会主席(2014-2015)以及美国国家科学基金(National Science Foundation)组织科学(Science of Organizations)项目的主任(2014-2016)。

Dr. Mo Wang is the Lanzillotti-McKethan Eminent Scholar Chair at the Warrington College of Business at University of Florida. He is also the Director of Human Resource Research Center at University of Florida. He specializes in research areas of retirement and older worker employment, expatriate and newcomer adjustment, occupational health psychology, leadership and team processes, and advanced quantitative methodologies.  He received multiple scholarly achievement awards from Academy of Management, Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and academic journals for his research in these areas.  He also received Mid/Early Career Contribution/Achievement Awards from Academy of Management’s OB Division (2017), American Psychological Association (2013), Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences (2013), Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (2012), Academy of Management’s HR Division (2011) and Research Methods Division (2011), and Society for Occupational Health Psychology (2009). He was the Editor of The Oxford Handbook of Retirement.  He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief for Work, Aging and Retirement, an Associate Editor for Journal of Applied Psychology, and an Editorial Board member for multiple academic journals.  He is a Fellow of American Psychological Association, Association of Psychological Science, and Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Dr. Wang was the President of Society for Occupational Health Psychology (2014-2015) and the Director for the Science of Organizations Program at National Science Foundation (2014-2016). 

张震,现任亚利桑那州立大学W. P. Carey商学院管理系副教授。2008年毕业于美国明尼苏达大学Carlson商学院,获得人力资源管理专业博士学位。2000年和2002年于清华大学经济管理学院获得会计学本科学位及管理学硕士学位。他的研究方向包括:领导力开发,团队研究,创业者性格与行为,和高级定量研究方法。2013年他获得美国管理学会研究方法分会颁发的早期职业成就奖(Early Career Achievement Award)和亚利桑那州立大学颁发的校级杰出研究成果奖(每年全校只有一人获奖)。同年,他的文章获得美国工业与组织心理学会(SIOP)颁发的杰出研究奖。他的研究成果发表于多个国际顶级管理学期刊,并担任这些期刊的编委会成员,包括Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology等等。他目前是学术期刊Personnel Psychology 的副主编。他曾是中国管理研究国际学会(IACMR)和美国管理学会研究方法分会的执行委员会 (Executive Committee)的成员。他的研究理念及活动见诸于国际主要媒体报导,其中包括《Science》、《华尔街日报》、《经济学人》、《环球邮报》等。

Dr. Zhen Zhang is an associate professor of management and the Dean’s Council of Distinguished Scholar in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Dr. Zhang obtained his Ph.D. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations in 2008 from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on leadership process and leadership development, work teams and groups, biological basis of work behavior, the intersection between organizational behavior and entrepreneurship, and advanced research methods. His work has appeared in several leading management journals including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organization Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Leadership Quarterly. Dr. Zhang also published research methods-oriented papers in Psychological Methods and Organizational Research Methods. One of his papers was the winner of the 2013 Wiley Award for Excellence in Survey Research of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Dr. Zhang is currently an Associate Editor at Personnel Psychology, and he is on the editorial review boards of Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Research Methods, and the Leadership Quarterly.
